In September, Ubisoft hinted at the elimination of the early access period of Assassin's Creed Shadows when it announced the game's delay to February 14, 2025. It explained that "all players will be able to enjoy the game at the same time." Now, it has been officially confirmed and is no longer a speculation by players. The Ubisoft community manager UbiRealDude wrote a statement on the official Assassin's Creed Discord saying that "there is no early access for AC Shadows anymore." With that said, they explain that it will be released at the same time as the standard edition on February 14.
The three-day early access period, being one of the benefits of the collector's edition, is still listed on GameStop, but it is not available for pre-order by players. It states, "Play up to three days early with the Collector's Edition, which includes the base game, the season pass, and various high-quality collector's Items."
Ubisoft Compensates For The Early Access Period
While the unavailability of the Early Access Period for Assassin's Creed Shadows may not seem to be a heavy loss for players, Ubisoft intends to compensate players by reducing the cost of the game. From an originally priced $280, the collector's edition will reportedly sell for $230 - a whopping $50 compensation for a minor loss.
Ubi-RealDude goes on to explain that the contents of the Assassin's Creed Shadows collector's edition "will mostly remain as initially advertised, although some design elements may change." A few of those changes can be seen in the CE's updated promo image that they shared. A reference to changes in the Season's Pass Model was also included in the delay announcement, "[Assassin's Creed Shadows is also] departing from the traditional season pass model.
Yasuke is Still in the Game
When the Assassin's Creed Shadows delay announcement went viral, there were some speculations that Ubisoft - in response to the dissatisfaction, from certain quarters of gaming fandom, with the presence of aBlack man in a game set in feudal Japan - wanted to use the time before the game's release to reduce the prominence of the Yasuke character, or completely remove him from the series.
Being faced with an inquiry about the characters, following the announcement of the CE changes, Discord moderator Roddrex explained that it was nothing more than a rumor as "it doesn't make any sense" to do so.
He says, "Yasuke is in the game and he won't be removed." "There's not enough time to make the necessary changes required to remove him and it doesn't make any sense in doing so too."
Ubisoft wants nothing more than Assassin's Creed Shadows to be a wellreceived game, and removing Yasuke won't be of any good. After missing opportunities like partnering with a bigbudget Star Wars game, Ubisoft is watching its steps closely and is trying to avoid further mistakes. Ubisoft, in recent years, has been struggling with delayed releases, and while this is still the case, it's trying to get back on its feet.
